Twycross Zoo has been forced to shut its doors once again ‘with a heavy heart’ as a result of the new national lockdown.
The popular attraction reacted to Boris Johnson’s announcement on Twitter this evening.
It said: “Following the latest government announcement, we must do what it takes to beat this virus by working together to keep everyone safe.
“It is with a heavy heart we will be closing our gates as of midnight.
“As a charity, your unwavering support over the last year has meant that we are still here today.
“We cannot furlough our animals so many of our team will continue to work behind the scenes to provide them with outstanding care and it is your spirit and support that gives us the strength to keep on going.
“There will be a better tomorrow.”
The zoo is asking for donations and anyone who can help should visit http://www.twycrosszoo.org
