‘Unfinished business’ as Lambs get set for action

Gary Smith says Tamworth FC are raring to go as they prepare to launch project ‘unfinished business’.

The Lambs were cruelly denied the possibility of promotion from the Southern Premier Central last season following the outbreak of Covid-19.

That resulted in a null and void campaign but they will try again in 2020-21 and Smith feels Tamworth can deliver again.

“We are raring to go again,” Smith said. “Pre-season has been a long process to be honest but the players have worked really hard and you have to give them credit.

“The new lads have come in as well and they have integrated themselves with the group really well.

“So I think we are ready. We have got a fantastic squad of players to choose from. Selection wise, there are a lot of headaches.

“The vibe in the changing room is good and the players are all together and ready to fight for the cause.

” It doesn’t get much tougher for the Lambs to start with than a trip to Peterborough Sports, who themselves had strong claims for promotion last season.

But Smith said: “Games don’t come much bigger at the level than Peterborough and then Stourbridge in the FA Cup.

“It’s a tough start but a chance to lay down  marker of our intent.

“Peterborough, like us, will be chomping at the bit, looking to do the same things as last season.

“But, for me, it’s a great game and we will certainly go there with no fear.”

The Lambs hope to have Joe Magunda available while Dan Creaney could also feature. Tyrell Waite may miss out with a knee injury while Jimmy Fry has left to join Stratford.
